Leeds noise rock gents Cattle are bringing their hyper-massive, mind-bending riffs to Desertfest 2018.

Cattle are one of those bands that you really need to see live to fully appreciate. That’s not to say that they don’t also rule on record; everything they’ve put out since their 2013 self-titled EP to their 2016 debut album Nature’s Champion has been utterly brilliant and uncompromising. But when you finally get to see the full omni-musical experience live everything you loved about their records multiplies by a thousand and the music hits you like that cow hit Alan Partridge. Two drummers, fuzzed out bass, saxophone, atmospheric noise and a demented screaming singer combine to assault your senses and leave you with a form of dancing mania. If that all sounds weird, it’s because it is.

All this to say that Cattle are one of the most entertaining bands in the UK right now so whatever you do, don’t miss them at Desertfest 2018. You’ve been warned!

Desertfest are pleased to announce that one of the most exciting bands in retro rock, The Necromancers, will be hitting up Desertfest 2018.

Hailing from Poitiers, France, the heavy rockers mix in many a style from the loud canon; so long as it riffs, The Necromancers are down with it. Their sole release this far, Servants of the Salem Girl, released via Ripple last year shows just why you should be on the hype train with this band. Opening with the insanely catchy ‘Salem Girl Part I’, with its plodding doom underbelly and stoner rock punch throughout the bulk of the track before showing off their heavy metal strut towards the end of the track with a blistering solo, The Necromancers just grab the attention, with the immediately striking vocals of Tom Cornière the cherry on the cake. And that’s just the opening track in an album where it’s unfair to single out tracks.

So be sure to catch The Necromancers when they hit up Desertfest this May for a dose of retro riffs.

Desertfest are proud to announce that heavy, heavy Brighton three-piece Solleme are coming to Camden this May to inject just the right amount of misery into the weekend.

Another jewel in Brighton’s astoundingly mental scene, Solleme have to place highly in the list of heaviest bands at Desertfest this year. The power trio are a rough-in-all-the-right-places avalanche of noise, expressed in a sludgy way, but has more going on behind the surface; their sole release to this point, their 2016 two track Demo serves as a perfect example of this, as well as a tantalising taster for future released. Opener, ‘Void’, showcases a midpoint hardcore/punk infused breakdown, whereas the second of their recordings, ‘Sleep Thorn’, finds itself at the other end of the spectrum, with an almost calming intro before chaos penetrates via the puncturing shrieks of vocalist, Francesco.

We can’t wait to hear more from Solleme in the future, so we’re definitely going to catch them at Desertfest this May. You should too.

Lionize prove that being a workhorse band reaps the biggest rewards. 2004 saw the birth of the Maryland outfit, whose wonderful eclectic mix of reggae, funk and stoner rock was bound to catch some attention. They worked extremely hard, relentlessly touring until they worked their way onto some great shows around the Maryland, DC and Virginia area - perhaps most notably with The Bakerton Group/Clutch, Wino and even The Wailers. Tim Sult actually joined the band on a few releases as an additional guitarist - and 2008 saw the release of first album 'Space Pope and the Glass Machine' after they recorded it in Kingston, Jamaica.

Future releases such as 2011's ' Destruction Manual' and 'Superczar and the Vulture' saw the introduction of hard rock riffs, and dub to their already diverse sound - and they continued to garner the attention of respectable artists from all sorts of musical backgrounds. By 2014, they had toured with The Sword, Orange Goblin, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster and Fair To Midland. Critics and musos alike have continued to heap praise on the act.

It was last year's Nuclear Soul that truly cemented Lionize's status as a fantastic original band - vocalist and guitarist Nate Bergman said to Classic Rock magazine "With this album we abandoned all preconceived notions of what we do. I think sometimes when you go to write a record you can become very conscious of outside influence and how that reflects back on to what you do as a band. With Nuclear Soul we abandoned all things that we thought we should or shouldn’t do and just wrote songs." - It's a truly creative and well-written offering, that sounds brand new - but also definitely Lionize. If it all gets a bit similar in Camden this May, and you want to hear something genuinely refreshing and different - go and watch this band. They will not disappoint.

We strongly believe we’ve assembled our heaviest Desertfest yet this year, but what would that be without some post-apocalyptic Danish metal? Nothing, that’s why we’ve invited LLNN to Camden town this May.

At times sounding more like a demented film score than your standard metal album (something clearly intentional given the band themselves cite John Carpenter and Stanley Kubrick as influences), LLNN are a different breed of heavy. Loss, their 2016 debut release, shone a spotlight on the band’s take on hardcore which, helped along by selective psych and ambient, sounds vast and spacious. All the while accompanied by pained howls of aggression, which cut through sharply on 2017’s Marks / Traces, it’s a sound like no other.

LLNN are a monsterous slab of filth. Be sure to catch them at Desertfest 2018.

It's not often these days that a brand new doom band can flatten our skulls and flip all our conceptions of the genre right on their heads in just three debut songs.

But Sacramento, California's Chrch are no ordinary band and 'Unanswered Hymns' was no ordinary debut release. Impossibility heavy and achingly painful, the five piece dragged us from nothing, to somewhere beyond and then back into the trenches of nowhere again all via 'Dawning', 'Offering' and 'Stargazer' back in 2015. Remiscent of the likes of Thorr's Hammer and diSembowlment, Chrch's sound is as emotive as it is harrowing with quaking dual guitar layers atop a bass sound that could rupture lungs and all topped with Eva Rose's searing, glorious swansong. Chills? Yessir, 'Unanswered Hymns' did indeed give us the chills.

With a new 10-minute epic track 'Temples' featuring neo-classical hints alongside some truly devastating riffage now out on their split with Fister, Chrch have to be heard to be believed. Which is good, as that's exactly why we'll be bringing them to Desertfest 2018. Pull up a pew and worship at one of the latest altars of majestic modern doom.

Desertfest are pleased to announce that Mastiff, a self described miserable band from a miserable city, will be joining us in Camden this May.

Hailing from Hull in the grim north, the five-piece have been delivering utter pain live and on record since 2013. Mastiff sound like they want to murder everyone and everything they’ve ever met, with last year’s neck-snapping Bork EP being a perfect example of their homicidal brand of tunes. Though, that morbidity goes far back, upto and including the band’s first two EP’s, Death and Everything Equals Death respectively.

Expertly blending death metal and hardcore with Eyehategod style sludge, Mastiff will be delivering Desertfest London a huge kick in the head this year.


Before we even knew them by name, we'd heard that low rumble of brain-numbing thunder rippling through the concrete beneath our feet. Slowly a two-headed monolith arose from the gloom. Guitar, drums, vocals, a skip load of amps and absolutely zero fucks to give; Tuskar, it appeared, had been birthed.

Hailing from Milton Keynes via Surrey, Tom Dimmock (guitar) and Tyler Hodges (drums, throat) have only been active for a matter of months. Yet armed with an electrifying debut EP in 'Arianrhod' and a deal with the good folks at Riff Rock Records, word of their doom-laden live prowess quickly spread through both the UK's pubs and the interwebs alike. Combining fist-clenching sludge with a rasping, powerful brand of doomy post-metal and chucking in some blackened dynamics for good measure, 'Arianrhod' is certainly as bleak as it is beautiful.

It's early days yet, but based on what we've heard, we're confident we've got yet another glistening diamond in the muddy rough of doom twosomes on our hands in Tuskar. Prepare to be flattened.

Desertfest are pleased to announce that Tom Cameron will be returning to Desertfest, this time going solo.

Perhaps one of the most underappreciated artists in the UK underground, Tom Cameron started his days in music as a five year old with a tape recorder, slowly evolving into the diverse performer he is today. His previous work is multifaceted but is perhaps most notable for two of his acts; firstly, Crystal Head, who played three of the first four Desertfest’s, bringing with them an indie stylised take on stoner rock, earning plaudits that include JJ Koczan of The Obelisk.

The second act, perhaps not as widely known in these circles, are Arrows Down, a band born out of ideas that hadn’t found a home, naturally taking on an experimental tone, switching between one man show and full band, acoustic and electronic.

At Desertfest, Tom Cameron plays purely as himself, expressing in a mostly acoustic environment. We strongly encourage you to catch him at Desertfest 2018.

Lo Chief are a fully equipped Quartet from the muddy banks of the Thames Delta. They fill the stage with their presence and then some, enthralling the audience with Moog / Hammond sounds that propel their vintage rock revelry to highs not heard since 1972.

In a live setting, Lo Chief waste no time in conjuring-up their huge jams, with long Hammond organ and guitar battles.

They make no bones about their love of Deep Purple et al and the band have made a good reputation for themselves with their immersive stage shows, wringing the blues from vintage guitars and howling benedictions to an awed audience. There is little in the way of pretence or image, they have a simple statement that is projected clearly from the stage. The message is to live free and never stop shaking yer arse! Come and make high memories with Lo Chief at Desertfest 2018!
