Why is it that almost any great band hails from Sweden? We’re not sure, but what we are sure of is that Vokonis are yet another astounding act to hail from that Scandanavian promise land.

Drawing a genetic make up from noises ranging from Baroness to Pink Floyd, Vokonis’ melodic, yet distorted, menacing, but at the same time peaceful approach drinks deep from the diverse well of heavy, throwing in a hefty dose of Mastodon influences for good measure.

With two immaculate progged and sludged out albums behind them, 2019 sees the release of the band’s third LP, Grasping Time, which aims to be somewhat of a magnus opus. Vocalist Simon says “I always wanted for us to write our own Crack The Skye. This might be it.”

With aims as lofty as those, you can see why they’re going to go down a storm when they play The Underworld on Friday. Don’t miss out.
