Embodying a sound unfamiliar to many, Southern UK band Forlorn blend expressionist art, crushing soundscapes and paganism to carve out their own brand of innovative ‘Folk Horror’. Their sound combines downtuned guitars with cinematic, atmospheric elements to create a style often described as “haunting, immersive, and deeply narrative”.
March 2025 saw the release of Forlorn’s debut album ‘Aether’ to critical acclaim from major press outlets including Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and Rock Sound.
Through Aether, Forlorn pay their respects to the ‘elements’, acting as part of a Progressive Metal pagan ritual. Living in a day and age where music is produced to the grid, Forlorn knew long before creating Aether that they envisioned a sonic bombardment, with the help of producer, Sam Bloor (Graphic Nature, Black Coast, Dream State), that very initial thought became reality and the result is a crushing soundscape that’s soaked in energy and authentic destruction. The juxtaposition of ethereal vocals, with chaotic drums and crushing low-level guitars, paired with vocalist Megan Jenkins brutal screams, bring together Forlorn’s unique sound and visual identity.
