DESERTFEST REVEALS DAY SPLITS FOR 2020 EDITION, ALONGSIDE 17 MORE NAMES INCLUDING BLUES PILLS
Desertfest is thrilled to announce the final bands who will make up this, the 9th edition of the UK’s biggest celebration of stoner rock, doom and all its musical subsidiaries. Sweden’s BLUES PILLS will join proceedings as co-headliners for Saturday night, the soaring vocals of Elin Larsson combined with flawless retro melodies and otherworldly guitar solos have allowed BLUES PILLS to enter an orbit of their own, as they achieve near-sonic perfection time and time again. Also paving their own way to dizzying new heights are Greek rockers 1000MODS, whose signature groove and commitment to producing an authentically vintage sound is nothing short of addictive.
After their unfortunate cancellation in 2018, Desertfest is elated to be welcoming back the guttural noise of SOURVEIN to the Human_Disease_Promo stage, get ready to be mangled into submission with a torrent of tripped-out sludge from this hard-wearing heavy institution. Elsewhere on the HDP stage we’ve got the crushing avant-doom force of SWITCHBLADE, a distinctly dark conjuring from Japanese duo BLACKLAB who will make their UK debut at Desertfest 2020, alongside a cathartic venture into the inner depths of misery with BLIND MONARCH.
High-voltage Swedes BOMBUS will bring a galactic attack of Keverltak-esque riffs to wake up weary heads at Sunday’s mainstage, local good-timers TRIPPY WICKED AND THE COSMIC CHILDREN OF THE KNIGHT deliver the perfect beer swigging music with their ode to stoner rock, tone merchants POSEIDON transport us through a guttural soundscape with nods to drone, doom and progressive metal, alongside Berlin two-piece GRIN whose dynamic melting pot of sludge and psychedelia will make its debut at Desertfest.
The pace picks up thanks to the foot-stomping, tongue-in-cheek sounds of TEN FOOT WIZARD and London’s very own DUNGEON, whose unholy speed-metal attack makes zero apologies for slapping any slow’n’low stoners round the chops and spitting in their beer.
A hark back to the English doom of yore comes from GÉVAUDAN, whilst the excellent ORBITAL JUNCTION will make their stamp on Deserfest impressing with their energetic live show and finally we round off this momentous announcement with the rawkus rhythms of SHUCK, noise herders HUMAN LEATHER and a trip from psychedelic newcomers THE LUNAR EFFECT.
