Drawing their influences from a wide and varied collection of bands and genres, Skypilot simply play what feels right, making them notoriously hard to pigeon hole into any one area of the rock music spectrum. This approach has served them well so far. Numerous tours have come and gone with bands such as End Of Level Boss, Firebird, Gentlemen’s Pistols, Suns of Thunder and Blind River to name a few.
Recent UK tours in 2022 and 2023 saw Skypilot cement their reputation on the mainland and win new fans wherever they played. The band have shared the stage with the likes of Brant Bjork and the Bros, Planet of Zeus, Lionize, Corrosion of Conformity, Nebula, The Atomic Bitchwax and a forthcoming show with Crowbar in February 2024. They have also played the Bloodstock Festival twice (closing out the Jager stage in 2019 and the New Blood Stage in 2023), further helping to galvanise and expand their following on the UK mainland.
Skypilot are comfortable in the big venues as well as the regular club stages. With 4 EP’s and 3 full length albums under their belt, they show no signs of slowing down. Their most recent album ‘Simple Beasts’ (Distortion Project Records) was released to critical acclaim in 2022 and highlights the band’s darker hue. Tracks such as ‘Octofuzz’ and ‘Knifed on the Beach’ simmer with a brooding intensity while simultaneously delivering some heavy, groovy riffage! With plenty more shows to come in 2024, the band will continue to spread their unique brand of heavy, riff-laden music across the UK and Ireland.
